Social Integration, Peace and Opening Up
Social Integration, Peace and Opening Up

This was selected for the DAFEN 1st INTERNATIONAL OIL PAINTING BIENNALE which was held in Shenzhen, CHINA. 64 countries took part and I was the only artist representing the UK.
The exhibition took place at 2 venues:
November 30th to December 20th 2018, at the RED CUBE PUBLIC MUSEUM, Shenzhen.
December 26th 2018 - February 20th 2019, DAFEN ART MUSEUM Shenzhen.
I painted this specifically for their theme which was 'Social Integration, Peace and Opening Up,' which could be interpreted freely, and the call was for large paintings. I knew I wanted to include people as part of a jig-saw of incidents and elements united in the composition and this is why I joined them to pieces of coloured puzzle-pieces which lead up over a hill towards an anticipated brighter future. The hill has glimmers of colour and shapes to represent new potential and ideas.
Acrylic and oil on canvas,
100 x 140 cm
