Paintings based on my emotional responses to my environment, and my internal world. I term these 'Inscapes,' or 'Paintscapes,' as they are often metaphors for landscape rather than depictions of place.

Often I like to start either with a memoryof a place, or from marks placed at random on the canvas. Through these I recreate the memory in terms of paint, texture and marks, or explore the paint until it find its own form and has a resonance that 'feels right.' These paintings are usually worked on for a long period of time, to find their form. Sometimes I destroy the image completely, and in that process find the thing I was looking for.
