The Silk Road and Human Exchange
The Silk Road and Human Exchange

Selected for the 7th BEIJING INTERNATIONAL ART BIENNALE, 2017 held at the National Art Museum of China, Beijing.
This Biennale showed work from 98 countries, I was one of 3 artists representing the UK. There was a full colour catalogue.
The theme was the Silk Road which artists could interpret freely. I chose to make my painting across different shades of yellow which could suggest yellow silk blowing in the wind, and I have illustrated various trading activities along the lower edge with movement across the landscape towards distant places. I really enjoyed working on this canvas. First I had to submit a sketch for this idea in order to be given the go ahead to create the large painting.
The painting remains as part of the collection of the China Artists Association.
Acrylic and oil paint on canvas
120 x 160 cm
