Lagos Night Beyond the Mosquito Nets

I lived in Lagos for a year when I was a child. I remember the mosquito nets over my bed, which I hated, and parting them to see the night sky and the moon. The noises of animals and insects outside fired my imagination, and this imagery is partly based on elements of that experience and memories. Colours and marks became very important in suggesting the memories.
