Winter Dawn
Winter Dawn

I like to layer my paintings on canvas or board with paper and rice paper because it allows me to create various textures as the paint reacts differently on different materials, and to use erasures as part of the final image. This painting was begun 2 years ago and I finished it by layering rice paper on top of the colours and working in to the acrylic with ink. Surprising elements appeared and then the painting suggested a place to me - dawn in the winter. I love to travel and as I haven't traveled for a long time, I love to find places in my paintings. I really go in to these places very deeply.
