Solitude

This painting was begun before the pandemic but as I worked recently on this after leaving it for 2 years, I was thinking about both forced solitude and chosen solitude. As artists we work in solitude with our thoughts for companions and they took me to a strange land as I layered colour and marks. I was also thinking about the ships as metaphors for people seen at a distance.
