Discarded Masks and Seeds of Hope
Discarded Masks and Seeds of Hope

This painting theme brewed for some months as I walked each day and saw discarded masks thrown on pavements or the road, or hanging from bushes. It made me wonder why people didn't dispose of their masks properly or had they just given up hope?

My painting is about the masks strewn across the landscape and at the same time seeds representing hope are rising upwards. The painting evolved purely from the paint and many changes were made. A degree of figuration crept back into the work due to necessity and the scale of the canvas.
