Fiona's Goodbye to Burrswood
Fiona's Goodbye to Burrswood

A year ago I went for a final visit to a lovely place in Kent called Burrswood which had been part of my life for more than 30 years and which closed. I painted for many years in the grounds in all seasons and these memories have formed a background for many of my abstract landscapes.

This particular scene is about my walk back out through the forest at dusk when the winter sunset coloured the land with amazing yellows and golds, I wanted to abstract the colours and shapes and to capture something of the damp undergrowth, the light on distant fields and colours melting into colours.
