Rainfall, Moon.
Rainfall, Moon.

Following on with my Moon series, I wanted a simple motif with which to explore the process of layering and dripping paint. The acrylic has been dripped, some of the drips then 'lifted' off, and there's translucent paint with opaque paint on top. I liked the idea of elements emerging from the process in the same way that imagery emerges between rainfall and haziness. Though initially I planned to overwork this with oil paint, I liked the different textures and variations of watery drips.

The inspiration was the moon on a summer night when the sky never really becomes totally dark and often there can be traces of warmth or city lights. I've often watched rain from a balcony or porch where it drips down and partly obscures the view.
