Paphos Lighthouse Remembered
Paphos Lighthouse Remembered

This painting was selected for the 6th BEIJING INTERNATIONAL ART BIENNALE 2015 held at the National Art Museum of China, Beijing.
The Biennale showed works from 90 countries and I was one of 3 artists representing the UK. There was a large colour catalogue and I was invited to attend the Opening ceremony.
The theme was 'Memory and Dream.'
My painting was heavily worked on to recreate a memory of one of my favourite places, Paphos lighthouse in Cyprus. It is a place by the coast where I have some of my happiest memories. For me, there is an incredible sense of changing light and also I feel an ancient quality to the coast. I fragmented the imagery to represent a sense of moving around the lighthouse with shapes recreating parts of the walk and coast for me.
Oil on board,
91 x 61 cm
